I recently received a thank you note from a couple whose wedding I had attended a while ago. I had purchased them a gift from their registry, and they wanted to thank me for the gift as well as my attendance.
I was impressed to see that the card was handwritten and personalized. As a special touch, they had also included a photo of me that their wedding photographer had taken. It was a lovely picture and made me feel like I was part of their special day. It must have cost a lot to have photos printed of every single guest, but it really was a beautiful gesture.
Sometimes simple things like that make the biggest impact. Writing a letter instead of sending a text or email feels more elegant and civilized. It’s the difference between taking time to wrap a gift in beautiful paper and a bow versus handing it to the recipient in the plastic bag you purchased it in, the price tag still attached. A little extra care and effort can make all the difference.
Technology may make our lives more efficient, but you simply can’t replace good manners and thoughtful touches.
