A few days ago my friend was nearly sideswiped by a car crossing into her lane without using a blinker. When she pulled up to the red light, she noticed the car ahead of her. The driver was not just talking on her cell phone, she was applying her makeup as well—all while driving!
Needless to say, my friend was both shaken up and outraged. This woman was weaving in and out of lanes and putting other people’s lives at risk simply because she was too preoccupied with her mascara and iPhone. It’s a wonder she didn’t get in a wreck!
If you’re behind the wheel, you owe it to yourself and others to act responsibly. Being distracted with texting, talking, reading, eating, or applying makeup puts you at risk. You wouldn’t drink and drive, so why endanger yourself and other drivers by engaging in activities that can easily be done at home or when you’ve reached your destination? Don’t leave it up to other drivers to avoid getting in a wreck with you.
