You may not be familiar with the work of director and documentarian Werner Herzog, but I urge you to see his latest short film. Created in conjunction with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile, “From One Second To The Next” measures the impact texting while driving can have. According to the film, more than 100,000 accidents per year are caused by drivers who are texting, and the film presents a grim portrayal of the aftermath.
Here, we meet a young boy put on life support after being hit by a driver who was texting; families of those who have lost loved ones; and even the drivers themselves, who will never forgive themselves for being so careless. It’s definitely a film to watch with a box of tissues nearby, and it makes you wonder why so many drivers put their lives and the lives of others at risk just to text. Can’t it wait?
Being a good, responsible, and civil driver means avoiding distractions while on the road. You wouldn’t drink and drive, so why text and drive?
