I’ve just written a chapter for a new book called Executive Image Power (out this June!) on the importance of tech etiquette. As we switch from face-to-face or verbal communication to email, instant messaging, text messages, Twittering, etc., we’ve lost focus on maintaining proper etiquette. We whip out our BlackBerries at dinner, never look up from our iPhones, send barely coherent texts to important work colleagues, and assail everyone we know with silly forwards. What happened to our manners?
This Washington Post article has a lot of helpful tips on being a good ‘texter’ – it should be required reading for anyone with a cell phone! Read this now, and I hope you’ll all read Executive Image Power when it is published in June. It’s a must for those of us who want to keep up a professional image when we email, IM, and text.
