Amy Adams’ Random Act of Kindness

by Peggy M. Parks, AICI CIP, CPBS

MP900403130Over the weekend I read a story about the actress Amy Adams, who has starred in Doubt, American Hustle, and Enchanted. Adams was boarding a flight to Los Angeles on Friday when she noticed an American serviceman among the passengers. According to other passengers, the actress approached the soldier and offered him her first-class seat on the flight. He accepted, and she took his seat in coach, where she posed for a selfie with her new seatmate.

What a gracious and thoughtful thing to do! It turns out Adams’ father used to be in the military, and she clearly has respect for the troops. Many of us may not be in a position to have a first-class seat to give up in the first place, but hopefully Adams’ gesture will inspire us to do what we can. Perhaps you could pay for a soldier’s latte at Starbucks, or simply offer him or her your heartfelt thanks.

Kudos to Adams for her lovely act of kindness.
