This summer I took a flight to visit friends. As I boarded the plane, I noticed that a woman in the front row was sprawled out and was eating a sandwich while resting her bare feet on the seat next to her. She looked well dressed, but her behavior was totally appalling. Who wants to sit next to a stranger’s bare feet?
Meanwhile, the two gentlemen in the row ahead of me made fast friends as they ordered one cocktail after another. They were loud and making inappropriate comments that everyone could hear. When the flight attendant came by to collect their trash, one of them decided to chug the rest of his beer in one go. Most of it ended up dripping down his shirt.
As people lined up to exit the plane, the barefoot woman from the first row pushed her way back a few rows. Despite being one of the first people on the plane, she had stowed her suitcase in a different row, which meant other passengers had to get out of her way when the plane was at its most crowded.
I’ve heard that a new blog, Passenger Shaming, calls out people who exhibit poor etiquette on flights. Can you believe some people go shirtless or spread out on tray tables and other passengers? What is wrong with people? Hopefully this will help the public realize that they need to respect others and not treat an airplane like their bedroom. Flying is already a stressful experience without some thoughtless slob taking liberties!
