This Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of Lent. It is tradition that people give up something for the 40 days until Easter. Some people give up chocolate, or alcohol, or even Facebook. Typically, you sacrifice some guilty pleasure. But, what if instead of giving something up and living with less, you strove for more?
This Lenten season I am challenging myself to give more of myself. I’ve written before about random acts of kindness, and now I want to focus on bringing a bit more Good Samaritan spirit into the world. You might see me buying a stranger a latte, volunteering for charity, or giving someone a nice compliment. Hopefully, this will become a habit that will carry on long after Easter.
As you enjoy your King Cake and pancakes today, consider how you can make a difference this Lent. Even if you aren’t religious, it’s nice to join in the movement. Imagine if we all tried to do just a little bit more!
